We have a medium-sized pond about 20 feet from a smaller vernal pond. Both ponds are infested with bullfrog adults and tadpoles. I want to drain the larger pond to kill the tadpoles and coax the adults to the smaller pond and eradicate them there since it is a smaller, more accessible area. However, I'm concerned about the insects and other macroinvertebrates in the mud of the large pond dying off. Does anyone know how long a dragonfly nymph can survive in mud without water covering it?
